Come along and enjoy the principles, beauty and style of Tai Chi and Chi Gong. Learn how the practice of Tai Chi and Chi Gong can promote health and wellbeing and leave you feeling relaxed, energised and renewed.

The Chinese believe that energy (Chi) flows through meridians or channels in the body and that this flow of Chi promotes health and wellbeing.

The benefits of Tai Chi and Chi Gong are that both promote the smooth flow of this energy and this is done through performing the postures of the Tai Chi movements and practicing the relaxed, natural breathing techniques of Chi Gong.

One of Frank’s classes in action

Along with promoting the flow of Chi energy, Tai Chi also works all the muscles and joints of the body thus helping to increase flexibility, better posture, aid relaxation and help to keep the mind calm and focused. These benefits are extremely useful in today’s stressful society.

The literal translation of Tai is “big” or “great”, while Chi is translated as “ultimate energy” and it has been around for well over 2000 years.

It is a martial art in its own right, but an internal martial art as opposed to an external martial art. The literal translation of Gong (as in Chi Gong) is “breath” thus Chi Gong can be viewed as “ultimate breathing energy”.
